When I was a young teenager back in the early 2000s, I was quite the nerd. At 16, while in high school, I learned to code websites the old-fashioned way using Microsoft Notepad and simple HTML. I even ran a website dedicated to Nintendo 64 and a popular forum for a video game called "Perfect Dark." Surprisingly, I earned around $400 a month from running ads on my pages.
Not long after, I discovered Adobe Photoshop and started creating cool designs to impress my friends. As time went on, I started my own film production company in the mid-2000s. We focused on making short films and commercials. I taught myself how to edit videos using Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere. I even built websites for our productions and shared our work on platforms like YouTube.
In 2014, I felt a strong calling to move to the amazing city of Los Angeles. I wanted to live a more exciting life and chase my dreams of becoming an actor. Digital marketing skills played a crucial role in this journey since marketing is essential for success in the acting industry in LA. I created my online presence as an actor on websites like IMDb, Actor's Access, and LA Casting. Thanks to my marketing skills, I landed roles on networks like Disney, ABC, Investigation Discovery, ESPN, and The Discovery Channel. I also appeared in commercials for big companies like Intel, Kaiser Permanente, and AT&T.
In 2017, I started my own business taking headshots for fellow actors. Using my digital marketing skills, I gained recognition among agents, managers, and casting professionals. Most of my clients now come through word-of-mouth referrals and digital marketing efforts. Today, I run MRLA Media, an online advertising agency in Los Angeles with a talented team spread across the country. We specialize in Los Angeles area SEO, PPC, social media ads, and photography.
